The purpose of this workshop is to explore the use of dramatic lighting in portrait painting. The mood of a portrait is greatly affected by the type of light illuminating the subject. It is therefore useful to the artist to consider how dramatic lighting might enhance a good portrait and elevate it to "excellent portrait" status. In the workshop we will see how the use of "light,shadow,and reflected light" can be used to give the portrait both a beauty and a "painterly quality" that may set it above the standard photograph.
